Sun, Jul 25

It's cucumber season, and it's time to start canning cukes! While I love refrigerator pickles, I *really* love the longer storage of properly canned goods. Did you know that there's very specific ways to do this safely? Well Emily from Cooperative Extension is going to help us can like pros.

About the Event
Raise your hand if you can't get enough crunchy, garlicky, yummy pickles. Keep your hand up if you'd love to learn how to honor the ages old tradition of canning them. Me too. Because when fresh, crunchy cucumbers are busting off the vines in summer, it's time preserve that harvest!
But wait, did you know that all pickle recipes aren't right for canning? And, honestly, I've always shied away from this because it's a true science. There's a very right and a very wrong way to can, and we're so lucky that Emily McClure from the Jackson County Cooperative Extension is here to help us learn to can like pros!
I'm going to be a student right along with you all. I can't wait!
Sound good? Come join us! We'll have tons of fun and learn lots of awesome food preservation info along the way!
This workshop will be Sunday, July 25th from 4-7pm EST via Zoom.
Once you RSVP, I'll send you the list of tools and ingredients you'll need. We'll be learning how to hot water bath can in this workshop.
And, as always, this class makes use of some items from your perfect pantry ingredients!
Our recipes are all pantry-centered because we believe that having certain essential ingredients on hand is key to successful home cooking. We combine these pantry basics - whole grains, herbs, spices, and/or legumes - with a few fresh ingredients to create simple, affordable, nutritious, and delicious recipes that anyone can make.
