Pasta Puttanesca~ Cooking Class
Time & Location
About the Event
The weather warm, the sun is shining, our gardens and farmers markets are full of beautiful abundance, and veggie cuisine is on my mind.
In this class, we'll be making a plant-based version of pasta puttanesca. Of all the tomato-based sauces, this is my absolute favorite. I'm a sucker for a perfectly balanced dish, and this one has it all! Sweet tomatoes, salty olives, briny capers, bright lemon, and lots of garlic. It's so good that we even use it as as the red sauce on our pizza.
By the way, we'll also use what chef's call "liquid gold:" the starchy pasta water that not only thickens sauces, but helps yummy sauces cling to pasta! It's truly magic.
This class is dedicated to glorifying veggies and taking them to the next level. Even the most dedicated meat-eater won't be missing a thing.
So come join us! We'll have tons of fun and learn lots of culinary techniques along the way!
This face-to-face class will be Thursday, June 3rd at 5:30pm EST on the lawn at Cullowhee Methodist Church.
And, as always, this recipe makes use of some items from your perfect pantry ingredients!
Our recipes are all pantry-centered because we believe that having certain essential ingredients on hand is key to successful home cooking. We combine these pantry basics - whole grains, herbs, spices, and/or legumes - with a few fresh ingredients to create simple, affordable, nutritious, and delicious recipes that anyone can make.
